Marissa Rizzi is a distinguished softball player and coach, renowned for her exceptional performance at St. John’s University and her subsequent coaching career.

Rizzi played for the St. John’s Red Storm from 2017 to 2021, primarily as a first baseman. She made a significant impact on the field, becoming the first Red Storm student-athlete to bat over .400 in multiple seasons. In 2019, she led the team with a .403 batting average, and in 2021, she maintained a .402 average.

Throughout her collegiate career, Rizzi earned multiple accolades, including:

    •    All-BIG EAST First Team Honors: She was selected to the First Team in both 2019 and 2021, marking her as one of the conference’s top players.

    •    NFCA All-Region Second Team: Her outstanding performance also earned her a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Second Team.

    •    BIG EAST Player of the Week: In March 2019, Rizzi was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, highlighting her exceptional performance during that period.

After concluding her playing career, Rizzi transitioned into coaching. In January 2022, she was appointed as an assistant coach for the St. John’s softball program. In this role, she leverages her extensive playing experience to mentor and develop current student-athletes.

Rizzi’s journey from a standout player to a dedicated coach underscores her commitment to the sport and her alma mater. Coach Rizzi’s generosity in volunteering to mentor Pride athletes reflects her exceptional character and makes her an invaluable asset to the organization.
