Assistant Coach, Pride 12U Lové

 

Coach Colleen is a former standout collegiate softball player who now serves as an assistant coach for Long Island Pride Fastpitch. A University of North Carolina (UNC) alumna, Jockel competed as an outfielder for the Tar Heels from 1996 to 1999 in the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

 

Colleen primarily played as an outfielder during her collegiate softball career at UNC. Her athleticism and versatility allowed her to excel in this role, showcasing strong defensive skills and consistency at the plate.

Known for her left-handed batting and throwing abilities, Jockel excelled both offensively and defensively during her collegiate career. Among her many achievements:

    •    Academic Excellence: In 1999, she was named to the GTE Academic All-America District Team, showcasing her dedication to both athletics and academics.

    •    Key Contributions on the Field: Jockel consistently delivered at the plate, including standout performances such as a 2-for-3 game against East Carolina University in 1997, underscoring her offensive prowess and reliability under pressure.

Her experience as a Division I athlete taught her valuable lessons in discipline, resilience, and leadership—qualities she now passes on to the next generation of athletes as a member of the Long Island Pride coaching staff.

 

Colleen had an elite high school softball career on Long Island. She played for Eastport-South Manor High School, where she was recognized for her strong athletic skills and leadership. As a standout player, Colleen was known for her impressive defensive abilities, and she was a key contributor to her team’s success during her high school years. Her performance on the field helped her gain recognition as one of the top players in her region.

 

Her success in high school softball was one of the driving forces behind her continued development in the sport, leading her to further accomplishments at the collegiate and coaching levels.

 

As an assistant coach, Jockel focuses on skill development, strategic gameplay, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork. Her ability to mentor young athletes by drawing on her collegiate background inspires players to reach their full potential both on and off the field.

 

Colleen Jockel’s passion for the game, coupled with her commitment to Prides Philosophy and culture , makes her an integral part of the Long Island Pride Fastpitch organization.
